What to Do If You Have Jaundice?

Jaundice is the yellowing of the skin and eyes and is often associated with the liver disease. This happens when there is too much bilirubin in your liver. A person with hemolytic anemia may experience a rapid destruction of the red blood cells which produces bilirubin. Another possible cause of jaundice is when the liver has its defects such as blockage that could be cancer or gallstones. Sometimes the drugs we take when under medication can cause liver inflammation.

If you notice some changes in your skin or eyes from its normal color to yellowish, you can do the following tips to help your body cure your disease. Mild jaundice can be cured using simple remedies but of course this is only to help your liver do its functions. There is no substitute for seeing your doctor to get proper medications.

  • Since the liver is having a hard time to filter the toxins, you have to avoid eating foods that will only worsen the condition of your liver. Avoid eating foods that are oily and fatty such as butter, cream, and ghee. You need to do all these for two weeks or more until your condition get back to normal. 
  • Drink lemon juice or fruit juices like grapes, carrots, pear, and orange for five days. The reason why is that juices can be easily absorbed by our body and will not make it so hard for the liver to filter it.
  • Replace your meal with all fruit diet for one week or until your condition becomes well. Include in your all fruit diet all colorful fruits such as grapes, apples, pears, oranges, and apples. Make sure to have this meal at least 3 times a day.
  • Eat raw vegetable salad. Make sure the vegetables are fresh and clean.
  • Drink tomato juice with salt and pepper every morning before taking your breakfast.
  • Stop taking the drugs that is painful in your stomach. Consult your doctor for other alternative drugs.
  • Have a good physical rest.
  • Drink barley water every day. You can do this twice a day for better result. Boil a one cup of barley in 3 liters and let it set in low boiling level for 3 hours.

These are the available options for you if you have jaundice. As you can see, you have many options to remedy a mild jaundice. However, it is important to consult your doctor to check what is causing your liver to malfunction. Jaundice is can be severe or mild depending on the causes of it.
